Making of Daguerreotype by Takashi Arai from Takashi Arai on Vimeo.
I’ve just returned home from work and I’ve checked Uchujin’s tweet of the making of a Daguerreotype. Started watching it and was really impressed by the amount of work, preparation and tools needed to create one.
And I thought regular development was a challenge.

Shooting with the Rollei 35 is very hit and miss. The focus is all based on distance. There is a finder but you cannot see the focus through it. And shooting at f/2.8 at night and candid photos at that makes this task even more difficult. So I was surprised to see this shot turn out so sharp.

Taken with the trusty Voigtlander Bessa R2A. Now had I used canon’s new camera, the 5D mk2 We’d have had an out of focus shot. A wonderfully exposed, out of focus shot mind you.
