Daytime photography. Something I really don’t do much of in Tokyo. Tokyo by day is ugly. Real ugly. Ugly enough to have to shoot in black and white. So, being a night shooter I’ve always got my camera loaded with 1600 asa (iso to you post film people). During the day this means f/16 and hope like hell the shutter speed is fast enough. The magic thing about f/16 is no focus! Which is why I can point the camera behind me, hope like hell and take the shot.

I think the strap adds a level of genuineness to the picture

Sometimes a girl needs accessories in her bag. This one seems to be bigger than most.

Sometimes when a perfect moment occurs, thing’s go horribly wrong. In the case of this shot I was disappointed at the time but after not viewing it for several months I’ve come back to it and had a laugh. Some shots you can’t plan

This has to be my favorite photo from my archive. I have never found the same light or scene since.

No,no. Not with the girl in the shot. With the camera and lens I used to take the shot. Sure it’s nothing super special but the picture has a quality that all my other camera’s don’t have. A soft yet sharp image. A bokeh that I’ve not seen another lens produce. Finally after a LONG time of taking pictures for the sake of taking pictures I may have a real reason to take them again.

Taken with the trusty Voigtlander Bessa R2A. Now had I used canon’s new camera, the 5D mk2 We’d have had an out of focus shot. A wonderfully exposed, out of focus shot mind you.
